Youth Ministry
Vineyard Church of Federal Way

The new Fall program is off and running as this year's new youth group regularly devote time each Sunday studying God's Word - discovering it's relevance for their lives, along with enjoying a few snacks, fun and games along the way while growing together in Him. We are looking forward to supporting other programs in the church such as missions, dramas, and worship - bringing the enthusiasm of our youth to bear in God's service for our community and abroad!
We are also excited to see other volunteers and leaders emerging such as Dave and Chryss Sweeting, Neal Hart, Hannah Almaraz, Chris Loper, and now Kristin Ford - all of which we are very thankful for and tells us we are on the road to some newer heights with the Youth Group!

PURPOSE
The purpose of youth ministry is to give Christian youth a place to 'hang out' as they grow as young adults. It's to provide real encouragement for day to day living for each youth in what can be a very discouraging and hopeless world.
PASSION
I believe youth need a sense of belonging and purpose to make a go of it in life. They need to know they count in this life and others believe they are important enough to at least affirm them on a weekly basis that they are needed. I am passionate in seeing youth knowing God and maturing in their faith as they grow into adults ready to take on the challenges of life. Seeing them react to challenges in life or make tough decisions through their knowledge and understanding of Christ's strength working in them brings me joy.
WHY YOUTH?
The reason I've always been attracted to youth is seeing their potential to find encouragement and healing in Christ and in turn taking Him into their world to make a difference.
GOALS/EXPECTATIONS
Seeing youth involved with the following 4 areas:
Learning their significance in Christ through bible study
Leading in worship, prayer, drama, & teaching
Laughing & playing together in wholesome activities
Lending themselves to serving others
is my goal for achieving balanced healthy growth for each of our youth.
I'm learning a balance myself of keeping youth involved through activities they enjoy, in order to better reach them and foster an appreciation or 'attitude of gratitude' for the message of Christ.
My goal is to facilitate relevant class discussion/exercises and outside activities, stressing the value of healthy relationships that make life awesome. I want to see them grow and mature in Christ while having fun and learning to enjoy each other, and I believe if done properly, they will attract others to Christ from our program. I want to see our youth excited about both knowing Christ and maturing as young adults as Rachel has shown vision for with a willingness to get involved in leading it. I would like to see between 4-6 youth leaders willing to meet regularly to plan, prepare, and pray together over the next year. I also expect to be stressed out completely in multiple times and means, and fully find His strength available & sufficient to bring us into the next level.
I expect as we grow in healthy relationships with each other, others will come and check it out. When this happens, I see us going to a new level of ministry, meeting regularly during the week in addition to Sunday mornings. We will need a place to do this and currently the Hart's have graciously hosted us, and the Sweetings are also becoming more involved. However I feel this may need to change to something like Brooklake again in the coming year.
